

“Patty”
Patty Gaffney passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 21, 1927 in Decatur, Georgia. Patty moved to Charlotte at an early age, and graduated from Central High School.
After graduating from high school, she was a secretary for Eagle Stores. Patty was an avid bowler, and held many offices in her leagues. For many years she was a member of the local bowling association board of directors. Patty was also inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. She loved to play bingo and bridge, and was a big fan of all sports. She was a life-time member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church.
Patty was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Gaffney; parents, William and Irene Teagle; and sisters, Helena Grimes and Alice Eubanks.
She is survived by her children, Gilbert Gaffney of Charlotte, Gail Calhoun and husband Chuck, of Charlotte, Greg Gaffney and wife Teresa, of Sharon, SC, and Jean Johnson and husband Jeff, of Portland, ME. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Patrick Calhoun, Ross Calhoun, Clint Davis, Meredith Johnson and Kate Johnson; and one great-grandson, Cole Davis.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church at 2701 Park Road. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, February 4th from 6 until 8 p.m. at Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road.
