

Ms. Gladys Turner, 72, affectionately known as “Gla”, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was born on March 27, 1953, in Greenwood, South Carolina, to the late Hester Anderson Turner and Eugene Turner. On September 22, 2025, she was called home to be with her Heavenly Father.
Gladys attended Independence High School and later began her career at Alsco (formerly National
Linen), where she worked diligently as a factory worker. After 40 years of dedicated service, she retired
with honor.
Gladys was truly the matriarch of her family. She lovingly stepped up to raise her younger siblings while
also raising her own three children. She had an unshakable love for her family and always placed them
at the center of her life. Her nurturing spirit and strength were the foundation of her family.
She enjoyed traveling, attending church, and reading a good book. Gladys touched countless lives with
her kindness, selflessness, and devotion to those she loved.
She is preceded in death her parents, Hester Anderson Turner and Eugene Turner;
her son, Damion Turner; sisters: Harriet Turner and Theresa Turner; brothers: Terry Turner and Wesley Turner.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving sons, Merlin Turner and Dexter Turner;
grandchildren: Shayla Stowe, Da’moni Turner, and Dextyn Turner; great-grandchildren:Royal Reyes and Ariah Reyes; special niece, Yolanda Turner; her devoted siblings: Clementine Townsend, Mary Turner, Roger Turner, Michael Turner, and Gregory Turner; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family of Ms. Gladys Turner would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the many acts of
kindness, calls, visits, and prayers extended to us during this time of bereavement. Your love and
support have truly been a source of strength and comfort.
Gladys Turner will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was the heart of her family and the example of unconditional love. Her strength, compassion, and
wisdom will continue to guide us for generations to come.
The Turner family will greet friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, the 30th of September, 2025 at McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery at 1615 Oaklawn Avenue in Charlotte.
