Gladys Biggers Weddle

Gladys Biggers Weddle, 101, of Charlotte, passed away November 10, 2025. Born in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey W. and Connie (Pressley) Biggers. She married John Calvin Weddle in August of 1945 and together they shared 45 years of marriage until his death.

A 1943 graduate of Thomasboro School, she retired from Clorox Company after 30 years of employment. A devoted Christian, Gladys was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.

In her younger years, Gladys enjoyed camping, traveling, swimming at the beach, reading, being a free taxi cab for family and friends, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Susan W. Drum and John Kenneth Weddle; grandchildren, Vicky (Joel) Herman, Richard "Eric" Weddle and Christie (Jeff) Gerney; great-grandchildren, Zachary (Jess) Herman, Ricky Weddle, Caroline Herman and Zoe Herman; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her son, Richard Evans Weddle in 1974; her sister, Carolyn Baucom; 4 brothers, Bob, Bill, Sterling and Gene Biggers.

A graveside service for Gladys will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, November 14, 2025 in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation 12:45 until 1:45 PM at McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com.
