Glenn Erwyn Jackson, Jr., 61, passed peacefully from this earth into his heavenly home on January 26, 2025, after a brave and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was in the company of his loving family and in the devoted care of hospice during his final days.
Born on May 21, 1963, in Birmingham, Alabama, Glenn spent most of his life in Charlotte, North Carolina, before moving to Greenville, South Carolina, where he resided for the past year.
For most of his career, Glenn owned and operated a successful staffing agency and recruitment firm, dedicated to connecting job seekers with meaningful opportunities. He took great pride in providing employment to second-chance job seekers, including at-risk individuals and those rebuilding their lives. His clients included major retailers in the big-box, grocery, and convenience store industries.
One of Glenn’s proudest professional accomplishments was fulfilling a contract to install all stadium seating for the Carolina Panthers then known as Ericsson Stadium—a testament to his dedication and expertise.
In his later years, as he eased into semi-retirement, Glenn found a way to blend his love for golf with fulfilling work at the Divide Golf Club, where he enjoyed both the game and the community it brought him.
Glenn loved his family, friends, and his sweet dogs, Chappie and Gracie. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his strength, and the love he shared so freely.
Glenn is survived by his cherished family:
His mother and stepfather, Beverly Shrader Pittman and Carter Lee Pittman
His father and stepmother, Glenn Erwyn Jackson Sr. and Judy Aman Jackson
His daughters, Hope Almeida Mangiafico (Shawn Ervin Mangiafico) and Hailey Lee O’Donohue
His siblings, Robin Jackson Martucci, Joel Lee Jackson, and Keith William Jackson (Stacy McCrary Jackson); his step-siblings, John Lee Pittman and Jennifer Lynn Pittman, Christopher H. Gardner (Miriam), Anthony Todd Gardner, and Brian F. Gardner (Marla).
He also leaves behind a host of dear family members: Dana and David Tate, Lee Steely, Paula Almeida, Judy Willard, Cindy Mangiafico, Sal Mangiafico, and Gabriella and Matt Gervais, all of whom he loved deeply.
Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Estelle Love Shrader and William Leroy Shrader, and Lillian Smith Jackson and Virgil William Jackson. He was also predeceased by his special niece, Tracy Estelle Boseman, as well as several aunts, uncles, and close friends who were dear to his heart.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Glenn’s special friends, Michael Cruse and Alton Lanier, and to the faith community of Rocky Creek Baptist Church for their unwavering support and guidance during Glenn’s illness. A special thanks is also extended to Assisted Living Director Mary Cameron Hamilton and her team for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at a later date. For those wishing to send a memorial gift, in lieu of flowers, please consider Miracle Hill Overcomers Center in Greenville, SC (https://miraclehill.org/give/), ensuring that Glenn’s legacy of love and kindness continues to make an impact.
