Mrs. Helms was born in Charlotte to Silas Pratt Risley Sr. and Alice Noble Reaves. Gloria loved the Lord and loved to spread the word of God. She loved her family and was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Carl Helms Jr (JC.); son, Rocky Helms; sisters, Alice and Donna; brothers, Bub, David, and Paul.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Smith; brother, J.B.; Sister, Katherine. Grandchildren, Melody Jefferson, Crystal Dennis, Jacob Smith , T.J. Smith , Jesse Helms, Steven Helms; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many more family members and friends.
A visitation for Gloria will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 at 12:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home Derita Chapel followed by a funeral service at 1 PM. Burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens.
