Gloria Hudspeth Lyons

Gloria was born in Rock Hill South Carolina, to Ruth and Richard Hudspeth on January 24, 1939. Gloria married Charles T. Lyons in Chester, SC on June 22,1957. Together they built a lovely life in Charlotte, NC with their four children. Not only was Gloria a wonderful wife and mother, she was also a mentor to others in her career at Piedmont Natural Gas. She retired with 20 years of service to the company. Gloria and Charles also ran a small woodworking business at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market. Since retirement, Gloria has been very involved in her church, Trinity Baptist. Her passion for the last eight years has been working with the church’s prayer warriors.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lyons; her son, Chris Lyons; brother, Dick Hudspeth; and her parents, Ruth and Richard Hudspeth. Gloria is survived by her children: Tracy (son) and Karen Lyons, Lori (daughter) and James Sgarlata, and Ric Lyons; her siblings, Jerry and Judith Hudspeth, June Pittman, and James P. Lyons Jr.; her grandchildren, Nicole Grandelli, Kacy Hatmaker, Kaitlyn Bouchillon, Micheal Sgarlata, Garrett Miller, Savana Prock and Keely Lyons. Gloria also leaves behind her eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held graveside at Grandview Memorial Park, Rock Hill, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm, with Antoine Speller presiding from Trinity Baptist Church.
