Gregory James Lawson

Gregory James Lawson, 40, of Belmont, formerly of Charlotte, beloved son and brother passed away at Gaston Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Greg was the son of Gary and Eileen Lawson of Charlotte and the brother of Jeffrey A. Lawson of Charlotte. Other survivors include many aunts, uncles and cousins in New York, South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, New Orleans and Florida. Greg was preceded in death by his sister Caryn A. Lawson, both sets of grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Greg was born on December 14, 1970 in San Francisco, California. He was a resident of Holy Angels of Belmont having suffered an anoxic head injury in 1986. He was a joy and was loved by all who knew him. He had many happy days and although we will miss him dearly, we know he is where he is supposed to be: with his beloved sister, Caryn and playing soccer and skateboarding. A Memorial Mass will be held on April 15, 2011 at 10:30AM at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 with Rev. Mark S. Lawlor celebrant. A reception will follow at the church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on April 14, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 28210. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Holy Angels Inc., 6600 Wilkinson Boulevard, Post Office Box 71, Belmont, North Carolina 28012-0710 where Greg was cared for lovingly by the staff. Mr and Mrs Lawson and family, It was such a joy knowing and caring for Greg. It was always a blessing to talk with him. He was always eager to hear a good joke or watch a sitcom. His smile was contagious. He will always have a special place in my heart. Your family is in my prayers.
