He loved his family immensely and is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Witte Bogert, just a couple months shy of celebrating 74 years together; and his children Peter (Laura), Bonnie (Bruce), Tim and his forever daughter-in-law Kim. Forever cherished and remembered by his eight (8) grandchildren and nine (9) great-grandchildren.
Harold was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1946-1947. He was a Technician Fifth Grade, receiving a World War II Victory Medal for his service. Following his stint in the military, Harold joined the Glen Rock Police Force, where he served until his retirement. During his tenure Harold attained the rank of Sergeant, was a member of the pistol team, and enjoyed competitions with other townships.
Dropping out of school during the depression, during the 1970’s Harold went on to earn his GED followed by a Degree in Criminology.
He was very active as an elder and as a leader with the youth group at Hawthorne Gospel Church in Hawthorne, NJ where he was known as “Sarge.” In 1983, Harold and Betty moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he continued to serve in a variety of capacities at Church at Charlotte (now New City). He enjoyed a good joke and was known to pull pranks on many friends and family over the years.

It is with deepest gratitude the family of Harold Bogert would like to thank The Pines on Carmel Senior Living and VIA Health Partners for providing exceptional care in his final days.
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood.
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.
