Harold "Hoover" Ray Hawley

Mr. Hawley, age 85, of Charlotte, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Born April 2, 1928 in Wilson County, NC, he was a son of the late Lloyd Henry Hawley and Cleola Estelle Pender Hawley. Mr. Hawley served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Hawley was a devoted member of Plaza Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman.

The service to celebrate the Life of Harold Ray Hawley will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 5th at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel with Reverend David A. Gales, officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Edna Jean Hill Hawley; two children, Teresa Plyler (Eddie) of Monroe and Steven Hawley (Gena) of Indian Trail; four siblings, James Hawley, Rondel Hawley, Eleanor “Gray” Glover and Edna Scott; a granddaughter, Stephanie Gordon Good (James) of Davidson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawley was preceded in death by a sister, Eythel Murphy.
