He was son of the late John W. Beaty and Emma Fisher Beaty. Mr. Beaty served in the Navy during World War II and was retired from Mitchells Tuxedo Rentals.
He enjoyed sports and was a proud fan of the Atlanta Braves. His hobbies included, fishing, bowling, golfing, hunting, working cross word puzzles, not excluding Sudoku. He loved his children, grandkids and his beloved wife, Mary whom he shared his life for 70 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Mary Ellen Worrell Beaty; children, Rodger Kay Beaty (Vickie); Gary Lee Beaty (Karen); Linda Beaty Bell (Bob) all of Charlotte, and John D. Beaty (Mary) of Denton, NC. Grandchildren, Rodney Beaty, Donna Herman, Nina K. Joyner, Andrew Jason Beaty, Gary B. Cross, Jr., Jennifer Krell and Alicia Krell; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; brothers, Robert G. Beaty and Ben Beaty; sisters Dora Bowman and Lorene Huffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Olin Beaty and sister, Margaret Thomas.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Forest Lawn West Chapel with Rev. Al Huffman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Linda Bell.
