

David was born to Ernest and Toni Presley on January 12, 1949. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest and brother, James.
David attended St. Stephen and Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School in 1967.
In December 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Private E-1. After over 40 years of service to the United States of America, both Active Duty and Army Reserve, Lieutenant Colonel Presley was officially retired on January 12, 2009. David served in the Republic of Vietnam, Germany and several posts in the United States, including duty as a Drill Instructor at Fort Polk, LA. He also served at Fort Stewart, GA, during his Reserve Unit’s mobilization for Operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. While on active duty as Staff Sergeant, he was selected in 1975, to participate in the fully funded Enlisted Education Program to complete his college degree. He graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1977, with Honors, and was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Lieutenant Colonel Presley’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Drill Sergeant ID Badge, Honorable Order of Saint Barbara and many others.
To carry on David’s love of life, family, and country, he leaves, his mother Toni, His loving wife, Barbara May, children, Aimee Everett (David), Andrea, Alexander (Jasmin), Melanie Bernklau (Hans), and stepdaughter Nicole Bumgarner. David’s pride and joy are his five (5) granddaughters, four ((4) grandsons and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters Nancy Larsen (Don) and Shannon Robinson (David) and brothers Chip (Debbie) and Joe (Sherri) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will also be remembered by a multitude of friends; both military and civilian, with whom he had the privilege of knowing and serving beside.
Cremation services will be provided by McEwen Funeral Services at Sharon Memorial Park. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
