Harvey Franklin Phillips, 87, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family March 29, 2020. Born September 3, 1932 in Charlotte; he was the son of Curtis and Helen (Nivens) Phillips. He married Jessie Buchanan on July 19, 1953 in Charlotte.
A graduate of Thomasboro High School, Harvey served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was owner and operator of Machinery Sales and Service, where he was partner with his son, Curtis and grandson Dane. For numerous years Harvey was a member and gracious supporter of Trinity Nazarene Church, formerly known as Thomasboro Church of the Nazarene.
A loving husband and father; Harvey’s life consisted of family and work. He enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and spending time working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jessie Buchanan Phillips; children, Wanda (Will) Williams, Curtis (Pam) Phillips, Cliff (Karen) Phillips and Gina (Tommy) Gavozzi; grandchildren, Jonathan Mauch, Jessica (Seth) Wilfong, Dane Phillips, Lynde Phillips, Tanda Phillips, Krista (Jordan) Black, Candace (Tripp) Cheek, Faith Phillips, Reagan Phillips, Nick Gavozzi and TeddiLyn (Troy) Hunter; great-grandchildren, Berkley Wilfong, Ellington Wilfong, Parker Wilfong, Levi Mauch, Isabella Phillips, McCoy Black, Alex Black and Ava Black.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Peggy Watkins, Martha Watson and Becky Reyes.
Due to COVID-19 and Mecklenburg County’s Order Prohibiting Mass Gatherings, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Please continue to check our website for any updates.
