Hazel was a loyal member of Plaza Presbyterian Church for many years. She had a kind heart and loved taking care of her four-legged friends. She enjoyed spending time with the friends that she had made over the years and most of all she had a deep love for her family. She made a kindred, life-long friendship with Barbara and Bob Kistler and Virginia Estridge. They have shared many experiences over the years, their times together will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her three daughters, Terri Baumgardner of PA, Kim Baumgardner of the home, Jo Evans and husband Dennis of Charlotte; her three grandchildren, Ian MacLellan and wife Megan of PA, Joshua and Jeremy Evans of Charlotte and a great-grandson, Clayton MacLellan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Baumgardner; her two brothers and two sisters.

The celebration of her life will take place Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 1:00 PM in Plaza Presbyterian Church 2304 The Plaza Charlotte. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The family would like to express a warm “Thank You” to the staff of Carrington Place that took such wonderful care of our mother for her final months; and to the nurses of Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region for everything they did to make her transition a little easier.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Baumgardner’s name to Plaza Presbyterian Church 2304 The Plaza Charlotte, NC 28205, or to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region 1420 E. 7th Street Charlotte, NC 28204.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. I know how hard and difficult this time is. My comforting thought when we lost mom and dad was we are separated only for a short while. Aunt Hazel was such a warm, kind person.
