Hazel Dawn Virginia Virl Childers Childers Craig

Mrs. Hazel Dawn Virginia Virl Childers Craig, 94, of Plantation Estates in Matthews, passed away on March 10, 2015. A native of Chester, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Hence Barbour and Clara Lowdermilk Childers. She retired from Sardis Presbyterian Church Kindergarten where she was a Teacher’s Assistant. She was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church for 64 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Craig; by three sisters, LaVerne Harris, Rubye Prather and Beatrice Broadway. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dewitt Prather.

Mrs. Craig is survived by her son, Kimmel Craig and his wife Becky of Charlotte; by a daughter, Carmen Craig of Monroe; by grandchildren, Leslie, Jamie, Terrie and Missy; and by great-grandchildren, Adam, Alaina, Kaitlyn, Karli and Taylor.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2014 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. A service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Sardis Presbyterian Church on Monday, March 16, 2014 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Alice Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
