

Helen Rice Lindley “Granny”, 83, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC. Born in Charlotte on June 25, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Earl Rice and Ethel Herron Rice. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who always put her family first.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, March 15th at the Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with the Reverend David Gales officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Lindley is survived by a daughter, Denise Watts and husband Phillip, of Gastonia; a son, Johnny Lindley and wife Pam, of Kannapolis; four brothers, Don Rice and wife Pat, of Charlotte,
Johnny Rice and wife Bobbi, of Colorado, Wayne Rice, of Midland, Ben Rice and wife Francis, of Charlotte; three sisters, Mildred Fisher and husband Carter, of Concord, Doris Currie and husband Tracy, of Charlotte, Lila Hudgens, of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Todd Lindley and wife Kate, Kelly Phillips and husband Brad, Tony Lindley, Crystal McKenzie and husband Matt and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Phillips, Isaac Phillips and Madison Phillips.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lindley was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Lindley and a grandson, Brian Jacobs.
