Helen Mooney Satterfield, 98, of Pineville passed away peacefully Tuesday April 5, 2016. She was born March 15, 1918, the daughter of the late Dallas Starnes Mooney and Thomas M. Mooney. She is survived by one sister, Bobbie Jean Sanderson and preceded in death by siblings Mabel Archie, Tommie McRae, Johnnie Mae Earnheart, Vivian Christmas, Coley Mooney and Douglas Mooney.
Helen was the loving wife of the late Charles R. Satterfield who preceded her in death in a988. They were married for 50 years. Although Helen and Charlie never had any children, they loved and were proud of all their nieces and nephews.
Helen was employed by Cone Mills Corporation in Pineville from 1946 until 1980. Helen and Charlie were members were members of Stough Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville where they were dedicated and active members for 50 years. They both enjoyed traveling and took many trips with church groups. Helen also served at the senior Citizens Hot Lunch program for a number of years.
Helen and her sisters Vivian Christmas and Johnnie Mae Earnheart joined the Senior Olympics from 1991-1995. They enjoyed their time together and won many medals.
A visitation will be held on Monday April 11 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte. A service to celebrate the life of Helen Satterfield will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday April 12 at McEwen Pineville Chapel with Rev. Bruce League Officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region
