Helen was born October 21, 1922 in Butts Co., GA. She attended Spalding High School in Griffin, GA and one year of Business School. She was a homemaker during the formative years of her children. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, and was active in PTA. After returning to work, she was a Secretary/Receptionist at Carolina Golf Club and later at Woodward Specialty Sales from which she retired. Helen was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church.
Helen is survived by her husband of 70 years, Roland Smith of Charlotte; son Rodney (R.T.) Smith and wife Sarah Kennedy of Lexington, VA; daughter Sharon Berman and husband Ian of Charlotte; granddaughter Shannon Wise of Charlotte. She loved people and left behind a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 beginning at 3:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 4:30 PM at Forest Lawn West, Freedom Dr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville or Christ Presbyterian Church, Charlotte.
