Mrs. Watson, age 90, of Charlotte, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Born April 21, 1923 in Charlotte, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther Philmon and Lillie Victoria Turner Philmon. Mrs. Watson was formerly employed with Highland Park Mills. She was a member of Derita Baptist Church. Mrs. Watson loved being outdoors and spending time at the beach. She enjoyed woodworking, leather crafting and fishing and in younger years, golfing and bowling.
The service to celebrate the life of Helen Juanita Philmon will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 17th at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel with her nephew, Patrick Philmon, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Watson Koch and Carolyn Watson Denton (Randy); three grandchildren, Tamara Lynn Koch, Dennis Paul Koch and Jamee Watson Melvin (David); and a great grandson, Hunter Val Melvin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Watson; son, Marcus Paul Watson; four brothers, Buster, Ernest, Paul and Mack; and two sisters, Sadie and Annabell.
