Helen Ratchford Youngblood, born May 7, 1923 in Cross Hill, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Mary Miller Ratchford and Reverend William D. Ratchford, passed away Friday afternoon, August 3, 2018. She was 95.
Helen attended Winthrop College and Erskine College. During WWII, she taught school and was a quality inspector at the Charlotte Munitions Plant. She was employed by the Nalle Clinic for 30 years and was a member of Amity Presbyterian Church.
She will always be remembered for her kindness and grace, faith, and unselfish devotion to family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl F. Youngblood and Turner A. Williams; a daughter, Mary Ludlow, sister, Margaret Stillwell and brother, David Ratchford.
Survivors include her son, John W. Youngblood; her grandchildren, James M. Ludlow III(Ety) and Jennifer Ludlow; and great grandson, Preston James Ludlow.
Memorial services are planned for 1:00 pm Friday, August 10, 2018 at Amity Presbyterian Church, 2831 N. Sharon Amity Rd., Charlotte, NC 28205 with Pastor Betsy Williamson officiating. Receiving of friends and a reception will follow the service.
