

Helene graduated from Central High School in 1942 and from Montreat College in 1944. She was retired from Ivey's Department Store/Jone's Furs. Mrs. Bunker was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte. When her children were young, she taught Sunday school at Myers Park Baptist Church and was a Brownie Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed being in a woman's bridge club as well as a couples bridge club. Helene also sang in the church choir. Mrs. Bunker enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her hobbies were traveling, needlepoint and gardening.
Mrs. Bunker is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Landon Walker Bunker, whom she always called "her Archie"; daughter, Margaret King of Charlotte; son, Barrett Bunker and wife Margaret of Matthews; daughter, Barbara Morrison and husband Rick of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, Jo Ellen Brown and husband Dick of Matthews; grandchildren, Dee Dee DisBennett, Michael Brown, Douglas Lee, Lori Sellers, Amy Brown, Ashley Bunker, Stephanie Moore, Joseph Brown, and Katherine King; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Charlotte; the American Cancer Society; Diabetes Research; or the American Heart Assoc.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22nd in the chapel of Harry and Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road, with Rev. Michael Cummings of First Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
