Henry W. "Dub" Griffin

He was born on Sept. 8, 1928, in Monroe, NC, to Benjamin Franklin Griffin and Judith Knight Griffin.

Mr. Griffin graduated from Charlotte Technical High School in 1948.

He married Anita Williams on Dec. 4, 1948 in Charlotte at the First Church of God that was located at the corner of 18th and Pegram Streets.

Mr. Griffin was a State Farm Insurance agent from 1962-1998. He began his agency without a single customer and built it into a successful enterprise that continues today in the hands of his successor in the business. He loved and appreciated his employees and customers and always sought to put their needs before his own.

He had been a member of Calvary Church since 1976 and credits the ministry of Calvary Church with the deepening of his faith and his increase in the knowledge of the Bible on which he formed the foundation of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Williams Griffin, Charlotte; son, Mike Griffin, Indian Trail, NC; two daughters, Debbie Griffin, Charlotte, and Becky Griffin, Apex, NC; four granddaughters, Allea Ingram, Apex; Rachel Schaaf, Raleigh, NC; Rebecca Galyen, Charlotte; and Bethany Galyen, Fairfax, VA; two grandsons, Munyenneh Griffin and Kato Griffin, both of Indian Trail, NC; one great granddaughter, Laila Schaaf, Raleigh; his brother, Carl Griffin, Titusville, FL; and his sister, Jackie Griffin, Jacksonville, FL.

His family will greet friends on Monday, June 25, 2012, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC, followed by his memorial service. Reverend Phil Divine will officiate. There will also be a reception at the church following the service.

Dub was a Believer in his Lord Jesus and his family and friends celebrate his wonderful life and his great reward that he now enjoys. He was known to his family and friends as a selfless individual who thought always of other’s first.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials in Dub’s memory be directed to Calvary Church that he loved.
