

Henry attended Second Ward School of Charlotte. He was a member of the United House of Prayer for All People from birth. He played on the first Shout Band organized by the late Bishop C. M. Grace. Henry was a devoted and dedicated husband and father that worked all his life for his family. He retired from the Mecklenburg County’s Department of Social Services after 30 plus years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Kennedy; a brother, Willie Kennedy and a sister, Rosie Mae Kennedy.
Henry leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Juanita L. Kennedy; sister-in-law, Agnes Ward; four sons, Sammy Buckhalter, Henry Kennedy Jr. (Valarie), Calvin Kennedy, and Dennis Kennedy (Karen); one daughter, Mary Marlene Kennedy; fifteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; two step daughters, Jacqueline Owens and Von McKee; one step son, Robert Owens; one niece, Mary Berryhill all of Charlotte. He also leaves a special nephew, Benny Jay Kennedy of Florida and a host of other nephews, cousins, family and friends.
