

Born on January 15, 1939, Carl spent his early years working on a farm, where he assisted in growing tobacco and preparing it in the tobacco barn. His hard work and dedication were evident from a young age.
Carl proudly served in the US Army, where he earned a Sharpshooter Rifle 1 and a Good Conduct Medal. His service was honorable, with an effective date of March 19, 1964, and he was discharged on May 1, 1968. Following his military service, Carl enjoyed a long career with Lance, INC. in Charlotte as a machine mechanic, a position he held for 38 years. He retired in 1999 but continued to work part-time at Hendricks as a driver.
Carl was married to Betty for 47 years. Their love story began at Lance, where they met as co-workers and dated for three years before marrying. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Marie Anderson, and his siblings, Royce, Joyce, Earl, Ronald, and Donald. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Betty, several nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-laws, Barbara and Pauline.
In his personal life, Carl had a passion for spending time with his dogs and cats, tending to his flower garden, and maintaining his yard. He was a faithful member of Open Book Baptist Church in Monroe, NC, and was previously a member of Central Baptist Church in Matthews, where he was saved and baptized in 1982. Carl also contributed to his community by working on the Election Board in Monroe for several years.
Carl was ready to go to his heavenly home and will be missed every day by those who loved him.
Visitation and reception will be held on January 20, 2026, at 12:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, located at 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm, with a committal service with military honors at 3:00 pm.
Carl's faithful, devoted, and generous spirit touched many lives, and his memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew him.
