

Hiero Louis Taylor, III (90) died on January 2, 2017 at his home in Indian Land, South Carolina. He was born at St. Peter's Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 25, 1926. His parents were Blanche Pepper Taylor and Hiero Louis Taylor, II.
Hiero grew up on Berkeley Avenue, attending Dilworth, AG, Central High, and Sewanee Military Academy. He volunteered and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he attended UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Physics.
He used his Physics Degree to build ponds, roads, and communities throughout Charlotte with his company, H. L. Taylor Grading. He also had real estate investments in the city.
In 1980, he retired to Indian Land. He opened a garage, where he enjoyed figuring out problems with cars and talking politics with his customers and neighbors. He read the Bible and loved discussing the truths he explored.
Hiero was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Taylor Webb, and his oldest son Hiero Louis Taylor, IV. He is survived by his daughter Catherine Taylor Metz, his sons Marion Pepper Taylor and James Edwin Taylor, and his grandson William Louis Taylor.
