We were kindred spirits back in high school. You were one of the few people I could be my silliest with. I cannot believe you’re gone. Your light and vision will continue to illuminate this world forever more.

Condolences to you and your family. One of the brightest spirits I’d witnessed work creatively. You impacted me years  ago when we worked on one of my visuals. God cover you always and grant you the greatest peace love and fullness continuously. God give all your loved ones the greatest love understanding and togetherness as a family.  Amen.

My condolences to Hnin's family. I was her manager who became her friend when she worked at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport at Pinkberry Yogurt. She was a valued employee, funny, happy, and carefree. I will miss her spirit and her smile. RIP my friend!

Hnin has been and will continue to be a lasting part of this community through her joyful spirit and the art she graciously shared with us all. I didn’t get to know her well, but that didn’t stop her from sharing a hello or warm smile with me anytime we shared a space. My sincerest condolences to her family and friends.

As a former coworker of Hnin, I will always remember the light she carried with her. She had a way of bringing joy into every space she entered, and her kindness left lasting imprints on the people around her. Through her beautiful art, she shared pieces of her heart that continue to inspire and uplift even now. I am grateful to have known her and to have shared moments of laughter, creativity, and friendship that will never be forgotten.

Instant friendship with her one night having met her at her studio. I asked to see her artwork and to explain some of it . I was really interested in her art. She was just so playful and attractive in her conversation. I liked her immediately. I’m so sorry I didn’t get to get to know her really well. So sorry for all the family and friends who will miss her.

Hnin was magical! She made everyone around you feel special and included. She hyped everyone up! I will miss running into her in the wild, I will miss talking about adventures and gardening and art. I am thinking of her family and loved ones every day.

Hnin left a very lasting impression in my life and her passing has absolutely broken my heart. She was the most radiant, singular, most genuine person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and sharing time with. She was indeed small but mighty. I will always remember her as the shining, supportive, kind, and creative force that she was. While my heart aches for your loss, I am grateful she is now at peace.

I am thinking so much of her family, her partner, her friends, and community. I am so grateful that she left us with so much of her art to cherish for a lifetime. She will be deeply missed by so many.

My goodness who can be so sweet, so empathetic, compassionate, hilarious and somehow so quiet. It’s like a chaotic silence. 

My condolences to your parents, your siblings,  nieces. My condolences to her closest friends, to Ryan. I cannot imagine. Thank you all for taking such good care of her. Thank you for always uplifting her, and for having poured into her just as she poured into you all.

Being such a sweet and quirky soul herself, Hnin always made sure to make others feel special, heard, and appreciated. She always showed empathy when it came to others experiences, including mine and I’ll forever cherish our convos and moments together. From her bold and emotional artwork to her bright and unapologetic fashions- Hnin I’ll never forget you. Your art and life touched so many of us. I hope you’re dancing somewhere and eating a big bowl of the crispiest crunchiest pickles. Love you.

I remember Hnin as a creative soul and an innovator. She was a force. Before I transferred out of West Meck to Cato Middle College, she came to my messy house and did a photo shoot for me. I always wanted to hang out with her in hopes that her creativity would rub off on me. She had a way of making people feel seen and inspired just by being around her.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. Please know that Hnin’s spirit and creativity touched many lives, and she will be remembered with love and admiration.

Hnin Nie is bar none the most universally beloved person I’ve ever met. If you are lucky enough to know Hnin, you know her kindness, silliness, and warmth are unmatched. 

Hnin was the first person to be a friend to me in Charlotte.  Inviting me to things, recommending places to eat, introducing me to people. This year, even though she was literally battling for her own life and health, she has still checked in on me and my health issues.  That, and the fact that we could still always find a way to laugh about our struggles, just shows the type of person Hnin was. 

If you live in Charlotte but aren’t lucky enough to know Hnin personally, she has probably touched your life without you even knowing. Her murals, stickers, and other creations (like Mushroom Corner, which she is pictured here building) spark joy all over town. 

Rest in pickles my friend. I’ll be seeing you around.

Hnin was a creative force with a gentle and kind spirit. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to know and love her.
