HNin Nie peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer, specifically Dermatofibrosarcoma. Leading up to her final days, her hospital room was filled with her loved ones holding her hand and sharing stories of her impact. She was only 32 years old. Small in stature but mighty in spirit.
HNin was born on September 19, 1992 in Vietnam, shortly making her way to Charlotte, NC with her family as refugees in 1993. Through her determination and pure curiosity, she found her way as a multidisciplinary artist in Charlotte after receiving her Associates Degree in Fine Arts from CPCC. You can find her or her artwork in every corner of Charlotte, whether it be a wall mural, a sticker she designed placed on your favorite restaurants’ counter, or her drawing on her iPad at a coffee shop racing to beat a deadline. Being naturally sociable and easy to talk to, HNin is likely to make a new friend or run into a familiar face anywhere she goes. These interactions by chance will be greatly missed amongst her community.
HNin is survived and missed deeply by her parents, Dong Donggur and HDjam Nie; her three sisters, Bri Nie, Jen Donggur and Mora Donggur; her biggest supporter and loving partner, Ryan Nash; and her three nieces, Dahlia Nie Miller, Dahlas Madisyn Johnson, and Dahlilah Mae Johnson.
HNin will forever have a lasting impact in the spaces and lives that she graced whether in person or online. She will forever be an example as to how one can live a life. Forever fierce and always kind.
A funeral mass for HNin will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2025 at St. Patrick's Cathedral, 1621 Dilworth Road E, Charlotte, NC 28203. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com.
