Ida Mae Hopkins

Born July 27, 1947, Ida grew up in Harriman, TN with her parents, brother and sisters before moving to Greensboro, NC and meeting her soulmate and partner.

She married the love of her life, John, in 1969.

Eventually moving to Charlotte for work and finding success in multiple fields herself, she helped John build a lucrative sales company. And then settled into a house on Windwood Circle for 47 years. She helped 2 boys grow into adventurous dedicated men. Putting up with car parts in the house. Motorcycles in the yard. Archery practice by the front door. She gave a good home to multiple mischievous beagles, fish, hamsters and even a cat for a short time. She made friends everywhere she went, and spent a good amount of time volunteering with the church later in life.

She is survived by 2 children, John Jr (Tiffany) and Mike; 1 beloved granddaughter, Alexia (all of Charlotte).

She was preceded in death by husband John, brother Bud, and sister Nancy.

There will be a small dual service, per her wishes, for Ida Mae and John on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 2:00 PM, McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
