Mr. Ike Cleveland Thornton, 98 passed away peacefully at home in his sleep as he wished on Wednesday August 7th, 2019. He was a native of Georgia, joined the Navy in WWII, the Army in Korea twice, and then made a career and retired from the Air Force. He was a world traveler and avid outdoorsman until his early 90’s. He loved his family and helped many people along the way without seeking recognition. After retiring from the Air Force he started several businesses, one of which he started at 65! He had a wonderful sense of humor, terrific outlook on life, and never met a stranger. He will be missed dearly but his legacy continues on through his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary “Nell” Tate Thornton to whom he was married for 61 years. He is survived by his daughter Connie, son Ivey (Julie) and grandchildren Sara (Pooran), Brett (Vivian), Heather (Patrick), and 5 Great Grandchildren Destany, Lennon, Iyla, Shelby and Piper.
