

Irene R. Holland of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away at her home on July 18, 2026. She was born on February 8, 1966 in Montgomery County, Maryland, and was the fourth child of Howard and Margaret Holland.
Irene moved to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina as a teenager and graduated from Manteo High School. She went on to graduate from High Point University in High Point, North Carolina with degrees in English and Communications.
Irene then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she made her permanent home. She enjoyed home and car repairs, and after a lengthy career at The Charlotte Observer she began working at AutoZone Auto Parts where she enjoyed helping and advising people with their car problems.
Irene made friends wherever she was and left many lifelong friends when she passed away.
She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Margaret Holland, and her sister, Judy Phillips. She is survived by her brother, H. Michael Holland and her sister, Althea Landymore, their spouses, her cherished- longtime friend Deborah Lloyd,14 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the children and they loved her.
Irene will be remembered and missed by her family and friends for her intellect, wit and sense of humor.
