Irvin served in the Navy on the USS Acree during WWII as a Boatswain’s Mate. He was also a member of the Post 400 VFW as well as the Blind Veteran’s Association. Irvin worked for 40 years for Queen City Lumber and was a master craftsman. He also was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Charlotte. He was a loving and proud father and grandfather and will be missed by all.
He is survived by three sons: Buddy F. Morgan and wife Linda, Jerry L. Morgan and Joseph D (Doug) Morgan and wife Marie; thirteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Jean Morgan and Ruth Albright.
In addition to his parents Irvin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years Gladys Furr Morgan and one son Gary Morgan.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 25, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. A funeral service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
