Survivors include sister Nannette Skerlak (Frank) of Charlotte; sons, A. Glenn Kiser, Jr. (Cynthia) of Davidson, Dennis Martin Kiser (Karen) of Fletcher, NC, and Lee Spencer Kiser (Lisa) of Denver, NC; grandchildren Michael Glenn Kiser (Allison) Mooresville, Wendy Kiser Ainsley (Jason) of Statesville, and Brett Martin Kiser of Asheville; sister-in-law Betty Edwards of Kannapolis; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Albert Glenn Kiser, Sr., father, James Belliveau, step-father, John S. Edwards and mother, Katherine B. Edwards, brother, J. Spencer Edwards, and sister, Ruberta Thompson.
Mrs. Kiser was born January 28, 1929 in Charlotte, NC, and graduated from Harding High School in 1947. She attended Carolina Business College where she majored in business and accounting and where she met the love of her life, Glenn. Mrs. Kiser began her real estate career in 1963 as an apprentice with Robards Realty in Charlotte and became an active Realtor in 1966. In 1976, she became the first woman to hold the position of President of the Charlotte Board of Realtors and, in 1977, she was recognized as the Outstanding Career Woman in Real Estate. In 1979 she was awarded the Realtor of the Year Award by the Charlotte Board of Realtors. She represented the Realtor profession at the national level including a term as a director of the National Association of Realtors.
After 14 years as President of Kiser, Inc. Realtors, Mrs. Kiser began her association with the Allen Tate Company, where she served until her retirement in 2010. She was well respected for her dedication to the real estate profession and the integrity with which she conducted business.
Jackie spent many hours entertaining, and being entertained by, her delightful grandchildren, walking her precious dog, Coco, and being active in her church. Mrs. Kiser leaves behind a loving family who were blessed by her presence, thousands of Charlotte area families who found their homes while working with her, and a lasting legacy of professional advancement for women in business. Without question, somewhere tonight a band is playing a Tommy Dorsey tune while the crowd clears a path for Jackie and Glenn to dance.
