James Edward Freeman

Mr. Freeman, 66, of Matthews, NC, passed away April 27, 2012 at his daughter’s residence.

He was born April 26, 1946 in Wake County, North Carolina, a son of Glynn Young Freeman and the late Willie Harson Freeman. Mr. Freeman served in the United States Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Charlotte where he served 35 years in Civil Service including the Army.

The Freeman family will gather to greet friends from 11:00 AM until 12 Noon, Thursday, May 3, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 12 Noon from the graveside of Sharon Memorial Park with The Reverend Bobby Morrow, Senior Pastor of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, officiating. Military honors will follow.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his mother, Glynn F. Swindell; two daughters: Tonda F. Wilsman and her husband, Bill; Shelley F. Miller and her husband, Marvin; one son, James E. Freeman, Jr. and his wife, Karen; six grandchildren: Tyler and Trent Wilsman, Paige and Kayla Miller and Jason and Brooklynn Freeman; one brother, Mike Freeman and his wife, Lela; niece, Michelle Capps and her husband, Lawrence; two nephews, John Medlin and wife, Kelly and Keith Medlin and wife, Michelle and a special friend whom the family is grateful for his support to their father, Brian A. Steffen of Elloree, SC. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie H. Freeman, a sister, Virginia F. Freeman and a grandson, Austin J. Freeman.

The family would also send special thanks to Alan Thalinger, MD and Corinne Hendrix, RN; Hospice Nurses, Julie Wintel, RN and Jacques Thiller, RN.
