James Arthur Griffith Jr.

Mr. Griffith was born August 6, 1929, the son of the late James A. Griffith, Sr. and Mamie Smith Griffith. He is preceded in death by brothers Ronnie Griffith and Estill Griffith, sisters Marie Thomas, Ruby Davis, Dot McManus, and Virginia Ruth Holbrook and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Mr. Griffith attended Long Creek Elementary School and Harding High School. He served in the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force, and retired from the Postal Service after 28 years. Mr. Griffith loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife, Evelyn of 64 years; a son, Rick Parrish and a daughter, Frances Griffith; grandsons, Benjamin Martinez, Rick Parrish Jr., and Brad Parrish; great-grandsons Dylan, and Alex, and great-granddaughters Isabella and Rylee.

He was a devoted Christian and kept his bible by his side, reading it daily and completely reading it 29 times during his life.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte. The committal will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
