Jim and his wife Nancy would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on August 21st. His sons and daughters-in-law are Timothy James and Esmeralda of Houston, TX and Mark Gregory and Page of Charlotte, NC. His grandchildren are Taylor, Luke (deceased), Erika, Emily, Tyler, Brooke, Claudia, and Elizabeth. He had five great-grandchildren.
Jim was a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College and Boston University School of Theology. He served as a USAF chaplain before leading churches in Clyde, NY, Jeromesville, OH, and Solon, OH.
From 1967 to 1972, Jim attended the University of Maryland, earning his M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology. For several years during this time, he helped direct an early NIMH program for suicide prevention. He then served as a professor at Cottey College in Missouri and for more than 20 years at Wingate University where he became Professor Emeritus. Over the years of his life, he held leadership roles in many organizations.
