We knew Jim through the Yacht Club and he was so kind to us when we were new members and new to racing sailboats. Jim was always there (with a smile) to make sure we knew where to go and what to do, he introduced us to people and invited us on his boat. My husband Jim even had the honor of crewing for him in a race, an experience he's always treasured. He was such a great guy and will be SO MISSED.

Sorry to hear of Mr. Hetherington's passing. He was a close colleague and friend of my dad, Charles Bowyer. I also just realized in reading the obituary the relationship with the Lackeys, who were friends of ours at Broad Street UMC. I send my love to all. - Rev. Bev Coppley, Winston-Salem, NC

As a roommate at the Lake Apartments, co-resident of F-Dock, and many hours racing sailboats on Lake Norman, we had many memorable times. We will always miss him and have positive memories.

The man that was responsible for bringing the Franklin's back home has passed away - much too soon. I will always be grateful for the chance that you took on the young man from Cotton Incorporated. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind that our Forefathers harnessed before us.
Hear the bells ring as the tide rigging sings. It's a son of a gun of a chorus.

Jim was a great friend and his dedication to STA and willingness to help insure its longevity and success are traits that make him so special to our membership... Jim was instrumental in helping me, as a new STA board member, move up and eventually have the opportunity to lead the organization.. his smile and sense of humor are most memorable, but his character and integrity defined him. Thanks to his family for sharing Jim with all of us at Inman Mills and STA.. We will miss Jim greatly...

What a wonderful an kind person .He would pull up to the office at Parkdale right in front of my window and get out and jester that he just needed 1 minute of course that one minute turned into many but we would chat about our families and other issues that he had on his mind . He was so proud his familiy and being on the water with his boat .He always brought a smile. He will truely be missed ! My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this difficult time and may God be with you .
