James Darrell Hopkins II, "J.D." 67 of Cornelius, NC passed away peacefully at his home on February 2, 2017 at his residence. J.D. was born May 19, 1949 in Mecklenburg County, NC to Clyde and Ruby Hopkins.
J.D. completed four years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He also retired as a Captain of the Charlotte Fire Department and from Central Piedmont Community College as a Program Chair.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at Forest Lawn West Cemetery on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a celebration of life at VFW Post 9488.
J.D. is survived by his son James Hopkins and wife Karen Hopkins and granddaughter Adriana Hopkins all of Charlotte, NC. His son Leigh Hopkins also of Charlotte, NC and his Daughter Tracy Martin and her husband Trey Martin of Cornelius. J.D. is also survived by his Fiancé Joyce Morris of Cornelius, NC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Mecklenburg County.
Burial arrangements under the direction of Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
