

James "Jim" Bilbry Jenkins, 86, of Charlotte, passed away August 23, 2026. Born July 27, 1940 in Rocky Mount, NC, he was the son of the late Bilbry Due and Clarcie Mae (Register) Jenkins. He married Patricia Mobley on August 13, 1982 in Charlotte, NC.
A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, Jim was a graduate of Granby High School, Norfolk, VA and Bluefield University, Bluefield, VA. He was employed as an Insurance Investigator for more than 20 years. He also managed the Mulberry Baptist Church kitchen for numerous years for the daycare, weekly and special events. Later in life, Jim was a property manager for Services Unlimited.
Jim was a former member of Mulberry Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and on several committees. He is currently a member of Flint Groves Baptist Church, Gastonia where he served as a Sunday School Teacher.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, working puzzles, bird watching, reading and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Pat M. Jenkins; his children, Cynthia Jenkins, Pamela Jenkins, Patrick (Mary) Sills and Jimmy (Brittany) Jenkins; grandchildren, Finn, Caroline, Mary Ellen and Reia; sisters, Arleen Hatten and Tricia (Phil) Jacobson; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 12:00 until 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Flint Groves Baptist Church, 2017 E. Ozark Avenue, Gastonia, NC. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Online condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com.
