James R. Mode Jr., 82, of Charlotte passed away September 6, 2022 in his home. Born November 18, 1939 in Burke County, he was the son of James R. Mode Sr. and Mary (White) Mode. He married Lana Thomas on June 24, 1960 in York, SC.
A member of Teamsters Local 71, James retired from Merita Bakery after 43 years of employment.
He enjoyed gardening, yard work, woodworking and traveling to Gatlinburg, TN with his wife.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lana Mode; his sons, James E. Mode, Raymond (Denise) Mode and Tim (Ingrid) Mode; grandchildren, Danielle, Stephanie, Kiana, Scott, Zak, Kristine, Hannah and Raymond; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Vandyke; brother, Julian (Maxine) Mode along with nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service for James will be held 12 o’clock noon, Saturday, September 10. 2022 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte.
