I loved Jimmy and Ruth like they were my own parents . My girls and husband loved them . We will miss them.

I loved Jimmy like a brother and I will miss him so much. Jimmy was my brother-in-law. He was indeed a Prince of a Guy, and lived his Faith like God expects us all to do. May God be with his dear family during this  time and may we all strive to live up to Jimmy's principals.

Ruth and Jimmy were extremly close to our family, my entire life. There is nothing that I can say to express the feelings that swell up in me when I think of Jimmy and Ruth. Ruth was my Dad's sister, and Mom and Dad were always thinking, talking, and doing with Ruth and Jimmy.
Jimmy was humorous, realistic, supportive and had a very special way of relating to people. Jimmy always worked two jobs and Ruth made sure home was home.
I love them dearly, they will always be in my mind, my heart, and my being. I can't believe I have lost both of them. They helped mold me and make me what I am. I personally believe they knew Jesus as their Savior, their lives always reflected Christ's teachings and I hope that I will meet them when I cross the Jordan.

Jim was such a sweet spirited man and so loved people. In Williams Building, before it was remodeled at Pritchard Memorial Bapt., I always enjoyed talking to Jim as I came out of my Bible class on Sunday morning. He would be on the old bench in the hallway waiting for Ruth to finish talking with her friends after their class ended. Then Ruth would appear and we would speak for a minute on the way to church. It was such a joy to see both of them.
I also enjoyed the occasional lunchtimes we shared.  Sometimes Ginny Payne of PMBC would be with us. 
I will miss seeing Jim and I know he will be greatly missed at PMBC.
My prayers are with all of you.

    Jimmy was always quick to laugh and to see the bright side of everything.  I miss hearing him cackle at a joke or a funny story and laughing at the tales he had to tell.  

    I took him out with a good friend and his grandnephews, David and Peter Pruitt to Mama Mia's Restaurant in Waxhaw months ago and we had a great time.  I am glad that we did.  He will be sorely missed.

Mr. Surratt was such a sweet man.  I met him and his wife at Pritchard Memorial Bapt.  He knew my grandfather from Celanese and always had stories to share of him which I enjoyed very much.  He will be greatly missed.  Prayers to your family

I am so sorry for your lost. I was so fortunate to work with Jim at Sharon View Credit Union for 5 years. He was one of the most Godly man I have ever known. So kind to everyone. Never forgot a name and made me laugh. He loved his wife and family. He was a true southern gentleman. What an honor it was to have know him.

Jim Surratt and his wife were two wonderful people who loved their family very much. They also loved other people and was always willing to lend a helping hand in time of need. They both will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I was saddened to learn of Jim's death this past week.  Two days before his passing I was blessed to see him and his son.  Although I had not seen Jim in over 25 years, I thought I recognized him and confirmed it with his son.  So, I got to speak with him and it was a blessing for me.  Jim was always the kindest, sweetest man that one could know. It was a treat to go by the Sharonview Credit Union and visit with him. He always had time for you and greeted you with one of the  sweetest smiles imaginable.  It is the way I think of Jim.  My heartfelt sympathy go his family.

I was very fortunate to work 19 years with Jim at the Credit Union. He always had time for folks no matter how busy he was.  Jim was kind and always offered a helping hand. He was a good friend and easy to laugh with. He loved his family and often expressed gratitude for the extra care they gave since Ruth passed on. My sincere Sympathy to all his family for their loss.  Jim will be deeply missed.
