Janice Caudell Griffith

She was born to the late Burgess M. Caudell and Jean Caudell

Janice, a Charlotte native, graduated with the first graduating class of Garinger High School and then went to work at the Pepsi Cola Company. She also worked briefly for American Family Homes before joining her husband to build a successful Nationwide Insurance Agency. Janice worked diligently in the office alongside Ken to build the Ken Griffith Agency. Their success included insuring large accounts such as The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, Stanback Headache Powders, Basic Electric Company and over 14 Wendy's Restaurants in the Charlotte and surrounding areas.

Janice was a faithful help to Ken as they lead the prison ministry to the inmates of Cabarrus County Correctional Facility in Mt. Pleasant, NC for 22 years. Janice, known as "Momma," to the inmates not only supported Ken by going to chapel services with cookies in hand, but she also headed up the Prison Bible Diploma program.

Janice was a member of and was very active in her church, Christian Life Center helping with various types of women's ministries, banquets and served wherever she could be of help. She was an amazing southern cook and was most famous for her fried chicken, homemade pecan pies, banana pudding and sweet tea.

Janice will always be remembered as a loving, encouraging and supportive daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, nana, aunt and friend. The love she imparted will forever be alive and well inside everyone she knew. She will never be forgotten.

Janice was preceded in death by her brother Michael Caudell. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Kenneth H. Griffith, Jr.; daughters Lori Carroll, Patricia (Geoff); stepson Ken Griffith; brother John (Dale) Caudell; grandchildren Erin (Bill) Draffin, Jena (Logan) Creed, and Ella Hawk; great grandchildren Charlotte Draffin, George Creed, Mason Draffin (baby girl Creed due in November 2023); step-grandchildren Ashley McClam and her family and Kenny Griffith and his family;

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 beginning at 12pm at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Funeral Service will follow at 2pm. Interment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.
