She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sister, and beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Charles Calhoun Wright.
Janice was a proud alumna of the RN training program at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, Class of 1951. She never gave up her nursing talents and used her skills and caregiving gifts to benefit those around her. She and her family lived in Charlotte, NC, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Maryland, and South Carolina.
A creative soul, Janice was never one to sit with idle hands. She spent time making clothes, upholstering furniture, crocheting hats, and various craft items including the coveted scrubbies. She fearlessly lived a life that included climbing pecan trees as an adult to shake the nuts out of the trees. She also climbed the Great Wall of China in her 70s where she took the steeper path, not the easy one. She never met a stranger.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Cindy Wright Stubblefield of Winston-Salem, NC, Marie Wright of Greer, SC, Cathy Wright Berst (Peter) of Fort Mill, SC, her grandchildren Crissy Berst Patterson (Stuart), Tommy Stubblefield (Claire), Stefanie Connelly Smith (Mason), Laura Berst Mueller (Tommy) and her beautiful great-grandchildren, Emily, Abbie, Ellery, Max and Livy, as well as loving niece Elaine Gibson Stafford, nephews Woody Gibson, Wayne Gibson, and Mow Wright.
The family is grateful to the caring staff of Meridian Carolina Lakes and Agape Care Group for their comfort and help when most needed. A memorial gift to honor her life may be made to Paws in the Panhandle, 222 Palmetto Kennel Lane Lancaster, SC 29720. A Life Celebration will be held at a later date.
