Jay Wilson Alexander, III, died at home on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, after a long illness. He was born in Charlotte on November 19, 1958, to the late Jay Wilson Alexander, Jr., and June Childs Alexander. He was a lifelong learner, and recently earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Strayer University. For the past twenty-two years, he was devoted to caring for his mother. He was congenial, kind, and always willing to help others.
He is survived by his sisters, Rosann Farber-Petes (husband Tom Petes) of Chapel Hill, June Marie Rainwater (husband Ron) of Mt. Holly, and Bonnie Washam (loving friend Steve McKenzie) of Cornelius, and nieces, Laura Petes, of Washington, DC, and Diana Petes, of San Francisco, CA.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
