

Jay was born on February 24th 1940 in Concord, and was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Louise Hopkins and brother Giles Hopkins.
He met and married his wife Sheila in England where he was stationed with the USAF, and loved his time spent there. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Charlotte where they have lived for many years.
He retired in 1985, was a Viet-Nam vet. Stateside he was stationed in Texas, Wyoming, Michigan and North Carolina. Overseas he was also stationed in Germany and England. On retirement from the USAF, he managed three restaurants, and at different times he was the Maintenance Superintendent of two golf courses, and the last few years had been active with the local VA.
He will be greatly missed by Sheila, his daughter Sandra, son Chris and 2 grandchildren Kelsey and Connor, sister Gale and husband Larry, sisters-in-law Marilyn and Ann of Wales, Linda of Whispering Pines NC, brothers-in-law Mike and Howard of Wales, his nephews and nieces, and his many friends both here and in Wales.
His sunny smile, his love of people and his great sense of humor will be remembered by everyone.
There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday June 12th at McEwan Funeral Home at Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road at 5.00pm.
Refreshments will be served following the Service at the family home.
