Born January 17, 1924 in Charlotte, NC, she graduated from Matthews High School and Wingate College, Wingate, NC. In High School, she played on the girls’ basketball team. Her Senior year she was awarded the title of “All-State Guard”. After Graduation, she married her High School sweetheart WWII Marine Henry Franklin Davis (1924-1966). They had three children Sherrie Davis Morris (Dan Morris), Frank Davis (1950-2012) and Russell Davis (Kathy Davis).
She was a woman of strong faith and a lifetime member of Matthews Presbyterian Church. Her passions were being involved in her church where she served on various committees, cooking, reading, sewing and being with her family. She loved making big meals where everyone was welcomed at her table.
She was affectionately known as “Mimi” to her five Grandchildren, Heather Clark (Richard Clark), Chad Hilliard (Loura Hilliard), Brianne Davis, Hayley Davis Twiss (Tyler Twiss), Logan Davis and her four Great-grandchildren Cody Clark (Heather), Austin Clark, Madison Clark and Wyatt Clark. Also surviving Jean is her sister, Nell Allen and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Billie Thompson, Warren Russell and Dub Russell.
We will miss her wisdom, grace, advise, humor and smile. We will treasure her memory forever. Goodbye for now our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
