Jean was born and raised in Clemson, SC, where she met her husband, Bill, to whom she was married for 73 years. She was a loving mother to her children and to the many friends they brought home. Jean loved being a doting grandmother who never missed a chance to spoil her grandchildren--especially while shopping. Jean and Bill moved many times during their life together and she built lasting friendships along the way. A successful businesswoman and entrepreneur, Jean excelled at sales and building relationships with customers, and her decorating and organizational skills were unparalleled. Over the years, Jean served in a variety of ministries serving all ages from children to young professionals. Many of those ministries were at Calvary Church where she and Bill have worshiped since 1975. Many know Jesus because of Jean’s steadfast prayers and earnest witness and the legacy of her witness for Christ will last for generations.
A gracious host, Jean enjoyed welcoming family and friends into her home for good food, Christian fellowship, and a slice of cake. Jean will be remembered for her laughter and her unconditional love for her family. Jean is survived by her husband, William C. Laffoday, and their three children: William C. Laffoday, Jr. (Sheilah) of Charlotte, NC; Donna Laffoday Clark (Sam) of Summerville, SC; and Jeannie Laffoday of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Dottie Galloway Klinck of Greenville, SC, and her four granddaughters: Dana Howard (Todd), Katie Clenshaw (Mark), Ashley Laffoday (Eamonn Hayes), and Sarah Laffoday. She had one great-grandson, Sam Howard.
