In the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, our Heavenly Father lifted Jerry up out of his sufferings, surrounded by Heavenly angels and carried him in His loving arms to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Betsy Ross Byrd Barnett, son Steve Martin Barnett and wife Jodi as well as sisters Edwina Barnett Langford, Judy Barnett Shinkman and brother Kevin Lee Barnett and sister-in-law Peggy Byrd Talley and a host of generational nieces and nephews.
Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Durham High School in Durham, NC. He went on to attend UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. He later served as a US Marine Reservist for seven years. Jerry went on to become owner/CEO of Barnett International in Charlotte, NC until he retired in 2007.
He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte at 2pm on Friday, May 9, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse in Jerry’s name.
