

He was born on May 3, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, NC to Wesley W. Robinson and Sallie Quinton Robinson. After graduating from Berryhill High School, he served two years in the Army during World War II. After serving his Country, he worked as a Shift Supervisor for Celanese and BASF until he retired. Jesse was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, an elder, and the cemetery association. He was also a member of The Shriners Steele Creek Lodge. Jesse will be remembered for the many friendships he made. He was also a member of Steele Creek Volunteer Fire Department for over 52 years, where he was known by all as “Uncle J”.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Janet Armstrong Robinson. He is survived by three children Robert L. and Gayle Robinson of Mount Pleasant, SC, Paul and Cathy Robinson of York, SC, Linda and Cooper Freeman of Clover, SC. He was blessed with six grandchildren Jenifer (Adam) Riddle, Paul (Shonda) Robinson, Justin (Julie) Robinson, Cooper Freeman, IV, Price Freeman and Barrett (Brooke) Freeman, and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Steele Creek Church at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, 15000 York Rd., Charlotte, NC 28278 on Saturday, February 6, 2021 with the Visitation beginning at 10 am, the Funeral starting at 11 am, and the Burial immediately following in the church cemetery.
