Jimmy Wayne Burch, age 60, died after an unexpected illness on Thursday, April 17, 2014, with his family by his side at CMC-Main. A Charlotte native, he was born on January 13, 1954 to Betsy “Becky” Stafford Burch and the late Jim Burch.
Jimmy was the type of person who truly never met a stranger, and he will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humor and his talent at teasing anyone into laughing. He took great pride and deep joy in being able to help people through his work as a paramedic and in the many other roles he held in the healthcare field during his life. He enjoyed gardening and following basketball, and, if you knew Jimmy, you knew about his passion for fishing. From the time he was a child, Jimmy also had an innate ability with animals, who were always devoted to him in return. Most of all, Jimmy loved his family, especially his sons.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, April 21st at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry Woolery officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of St. Paul, Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM prior to the funeral hour.
Mr. Burch is survived by his mother, Betsy “Becky” Stafford Burch, two sons, Adam Burch and Daniel Burch, the love of his life, Toni Shelby Burch, all of Charlotte, a sister, Wanda Davis and husband Rodney, of Mint Hill, two brothers, Joey Burch and wife Ronda, of Harrisburg, and Sam “Eric” Burch, of Charlotte.
