Jimmy was born on September 9, 1952 to Billy Ward Crump Sr and Joyce Willene (Osborne) Crump, the first of three boys. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Billy Ward Crump, Sr. and his mother, Joyce Willene Crump, his son Ty Gray Crump and other treasured family and friends. He is survived by his brothers, Billy Crump, Jr. and Thomas Wesley (Wes) Crump, his daughter Maggi Flynn, husband Christopher and grandchildren Audrey Marie (17), Rosalind Louise (14) and Ian Fisher (5). He adored his grandchildren, and they always knew “Pop” was in their corner.
Jimmy graduated from high school and went on to work for WBTV. He later performed administrative duties for several engineering firms, the last for Perigon International, an engineering consulting firm in Charlotte, NC. Even after he retired due to his health issues, he stayed in touch with cherished friends from those days, meeting for lunch and checking on each other by phone. He kept a close eye on his neighbors and was there when they needed him, as they were for him. His brother Wes stayed by his side during Jimmy’s health struggles until the very end, providing whatever was needed or just hanging out or holding a hand.
Jimmy married Candace (Eten) Crump in January 1976. After settling in, they were blessed with birth of their daughter, Maggi Amber and Son Ty Gray in 1980. Jimmy was active in coaching the various sports his son was involved in and they enjoyed golfing together and rooting for the Carolina Tarheels. He was an avid Harley Davidson fan.
