Jo Ann (Thompson) Covington, 78, of Charlotte NC passed away Sunday October 28, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System University Hospital. She was born April 10, 1940 in Wellford, SC to Paul Elliott Thompson and Emma Lillian Steading Thompson.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years W. Ralph Covington, sons Larry Powell and Phillip Wayne Covington (Julie), daughter Marcia Powell (Alan), and granddaughter Claire Covington. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Charles and Kent Thompson.
In addition to caring for her family, she loved dancing, reading, gardening, bird watching and all of nature. She was very creative and enjoyed ceramics, quilting and cross-stitch. In her later years she and her husband enjoyed their home in Pawley’s Island, SC where she loved the beaches, marshes and natural habitat.
