Joan Turner Jamison

She was known for a steady devotion to others, a faithful spirit, and a kind-hearted, compassionate presence that brought comfort to many.

Joan grew up in Pauline, South Carolina, the daughter of Vernon and Lois Blanton Turner. She shared her early years with her sister, Jane Morrow. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her sister. She graduated from Spartanburg School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse, beginning a life marked by hard work and generous service.

For 20 years, Joan worked for Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat in North Carolina as an Optic Nurse. She later completed her career with 25 years of dedicated service to the North Carolina Services for the Blind, work that reflected her enduring compassion and her commitment to caring for others with dignity and respect.

Joan was married for 62 years to Zean Jamison. Together they had one Casey Jamison, who survives her. As a family, they cherished time spent vacationing at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina—simple, meaningful traditions that became lasting memories. Joan also leaves behind two nieces Robin and Kristi and their families.

A devoted member and avid attendant of First Baptist Church of Charlotte, North Carolina for over 50 years, Joan’s faith remained a guiding foundation throughout her life. She was also an avid reader of theological books, always seeking to deepen her knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures—an expression of her faithful, thoughtful spirit and lifelong desire to grow in understanding.

Joan made a lasting impression on everyone she met through her gentle nature and soft-hearted demeanor. Her generosity, steady diligence, and compassionate care will be remembered with gratitude and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Summit of South Park for their neverending care and attention to Joan.

Today Joan and her sister Jane, are studying the Bible and sharing Bible stories together. By now Zean has joined in with them for a glass of wine and a few laughs.
